Our History
GCF Power S.r.l.
From the post-war period to the present day
on the Edge of High Voltage
The origins of the company date back to 1948, when its founder, Giacomo Ferroli, established it as a sole proprietorship.
.
In the immediate post-war period, Ferroli worked primarily for SADE, which at the time operated the high-voltage transmission network as the transmission system operator (TSO) in north-eastern Italy, covering Veneto, Friuli Venezia Giulia and Trentino-Alto Adige.
Following the nationalisation of low-, medium- and high-voltage electricity networks, ENEL became the company’s main client. Today, the company focuses its activities on the Italian high-voltage network, with TERNA RETE ITALIA S.p.A., the national high-voltage transmission system operator, as its key client.
Following the involvement of the founder’s heirs in the management of the business, in 1980 the company was incorporated as a limited liability company, adopting the name Ferroli & C. S.r.l.
Company Development
During the 1980s and 1990s, Ferroli & C. S.r.l. expanded its scope of operations. In addition to the medium- and high-voltage sectors, the company also undertook the construction of viaducts, civil, and industrial buildings, the geological surveying activity, as well as the production and marketing of construction materials.
At the same time, during the 1990s, Ferroli & C. began expanding its operations into international markets, particularly Germany and Austria, carrying out projects for clients including ABB Group, SAG, DB Energie, VLB Leitungsbau, AUTMATEC and LTB.
In 2022, Ferroli became part of the industrial group Generale Costruzioni Ferroviarie S.p.A., a leading Italian construction group with revenues of €540 million and 1,600 employees. This integration has enabled the company to strengthen its position in the Italian market while further developing its activities and international partnerships.
2024. The consolidation of the know-how acquired over the years in Italy and abroad – particularly in Germany, Austria and Switzerland – enabled the company to consolidate and expand its areas of activity. Significant investments in personnel and equipment, a thorough internal reorganisation and a comprehensive rebranding process: 2024 marked the beginning of a new chapter for the company, characterised by the adoption of the new corporate name GCF POWER S.r.l. and the development of new business opportunities at both national and international level.
